PosiSale has two parts, and they handle information differently:

  • The posisale.com and tressdesk.com websites, which tell you about PosiSale and TressDesk.
  • The PosiSale point of sale, which each store uses at its own address, such as yourstore.posisale.com.

Part 1: The posisale.com and tressdesk.com websites

What we collect

When you visit. We collect what your browser provides, so we're notified of visitors to the sites:

  • your IP address, the network it belongs to, and the approximate location (country, sometimes city) it points to;
  • the page, the page you came from, and the time;
  • your browser, system, screen and window size, language, time zone and light or dark preference;
  • whether this browser has visited before, and how often.

When you send the contact form. Your name, email address, store name and type and your message, with your IP address, country and browser.

Logs. Our systems record each request (IP address, page, browser and time) to keep the sites running and safe.

What's stored in your browser

We use cookies and similar browser storage to make the sites work and to understand visits, for example to remember your light or dark choice and whether you've visited before. You can clear or block them in your browser's settings.

How we use it

Only for our own purposes: to see who's interested in PosiSale and TressDesk, to answer your messages, and to keep the sites working and secure. We don't sell or share it with third parties for their marketing.

Who handles it

Service providers that host and protect the sites and handle our email, only so they can provide those services to us. The sites are hosted in the United States.

How long we keep it

Logs are deleted automatically after a short time. Visit and contact emails are kept while they're useful to us, and deleted if you ask.

Your choices

  • Your browser's privacy settings can limit what it shares with us.
  • To see or delete what we hold about you, send us a message.

Part 2: The PosiSale point of sale

Whose data it is

Each store's information belongs to that store. The store decides what to record about its customers and staff, and is responsible for it. We run the software and keep it safe, and we only look at a store's information to keep the service working, when the store asks us to help, or when the law requires it.

Shopping at or visiting a store that uses PosiSale? Ask that store what it keeps about you, or to change or remove it. If it asks us, we help.

What a store keeps in it

  • Staff sign-ins: name, user name, role and, if given, an email address for password resets. Passwords are stored in a form that can't be read back, even by us.
  • Customers and clients: what the store enters, such as name, phone, email, addresses, whether they agreed to marketing email, tax-exemption details and certificate copies, and purchase history. Salons can also keep appointments, color formulas, notes and client photos.
  • Sales: items, prices, tax, and how each was paid. For cards run on a separate card machine, the machine's authorization code and, if entered, the last four digits.
  • Emails the store sends (one-to-one, marketing, appointment and password-reset emails), with a log of whether each was delivered.
  • Activity log: who changed what and when, including failed sign-ins with the user name tried and the IP address.

Cookies and browser storage

We use cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember settings on your device, such as light or dark mode and which register a computer is. The camera is used only when you choose to take a photo or scan a barcode.

Who handles it

  • Service providers that host, protect and deliver PosiSale, only so they can provide those services to us.
  • The store's emails are sent through the email account the store connects.
  • Data and uploaded files are stored in the United States.

We use a store's data only to provide PosiSale to that store and the business it belongs to. Each store can use its own data to serve and contact its customers, for example with receipts, appointment reminders or its own marketing emails. We don't sell or share store or customer data with third parties for their marketing.

Unrelated businesses can't see each other's data. Stores that belong to the same business, such as the locations of a chain, may be managed centrally and share customers and other data.

Keeping it safe

Connections are encrypted. Each business's data is kept apart from every other business's, checked on every request. Uploaded files are private to the business they belong to, and saved email passwords are encrypted. Staff see only what their role allows; reports, settings and the activity log are for admins.

How long it's kept

For as long as the store uses PosiSale. Sales, stock history and the activity log are never edited or removed, so the books always add up; customers who have bought something can be made inactive instead of deleted. A store can ask us for a full copy of its data, or to delete it when it stops using PosiSale. Logs are deleted automatically after a short time.

Marketing emails

A store's marketing emails go only to customers it has marked as agreeing to them, and every one has an unsubscribe link. Appointment and password-reset emails aren't marketing and go to the address on file.

If PosiSale changes owners

If PosiSale is ever sold or merged, the website's and stores' information would move to the new owner so the point of sale keeps working for stores, under this policy. That's a transfer of the business, not a sale of data for marketing.

Changes to this policy

When the website or the point of sale changes what it collects, we update this page and the date at the top.
